CPC Student Life is very excited to offer summer internships to train up college students in ministry. You will have an exciting summer ahead of you based on three words: go, do, and be. All of them are verbs; action is required. First we want to train you up to GO. Jesus tells us to “Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation.” Wherever God might have you GO, we want you to be prepared and trained to preach the gospel, whether it’s in our local middle school or in an orphanage in a third world country. Do: Paul challenges Timothy to be steady, endure suffering, do the work of an evangelist and fulfill your ministry. Paul was really passing the torch to the next generation. Our desire is to teach you to be steady in ministry, to endure suffering, to reach the world, as well as help you find your calling in ministry. The final word is BE. The Psalms tell us to “BE still and know that I am God.” One of the most important parts of ministry is BEing still. We want to teach you to hear God’s voice as you study His Word, as you work along side staff and students, as well as sitting quietly before the Lord.
CPC Student Ministry has two summer internship openings available! One internship will work with our 5th and 6th grade ministry called The Edge as well as our Jr. High Ministry. The other internship will work with our Jr. High and our High School Ministry. The job is 40 hours a week. 30 hours of actual ministry time with students, events, camps as well as Sunday mornings and midweek events. 10 hours will be spent studying on different topics related to the church, student ministry and your spiritual life. You will also participate in a weekly evening class as well as a weekly book/bible study. The pay is $2000 for 10 weeks of summer. The internship starts at the end of May and ends in the middle of August.
I’m praying for you as you read over the materials in this packet. I’m praying that God will guide your footsteps as you consider spending your summer Going, Doing and Being different for the sake of our Lord, Jesus Christ.
The Vision for Summer Interns
Student Life@CPC has a desire to train up college students to do the work of the ministry and give them practical ministry experience. Each participant will work in an assigned area of the student ministry, receiving instruction and insight from the student ministry staff which includes pastors and directors as well as some of our volunteers. We want to help you understand the nature of ministry, the goals of ministry and a personal ministry philosophy. Each intern will experience a balance of activities and responsibilities in order to get a feel for the various components of ministry as well as be a part of the student ministries staff.
The Process
First the applicant needs to pick up an application, read through the packet, and pray. Fill out the application and background check form and give it to Sandy, as well as give reference forms to your references and have them mailed back to the church. Please include your resume. Once Sandy has received your application and references, you will be contacted for an interview. If we think that the applicant is a good fit, we will send an offer letter to officially extend the offer to the applicant. To find out more about the summer internships or to receive a packet email Sandy.
