This Week at CPC Kids

Praise God for the Great BBQ!  Here are some pics of our first CPC Family BBQ and water games. The Lord gave us perfect weather, delicious food, and a splashing good time!

Element 

In this week's Bible story, Jesus’ friend, Lazarus, dies (John 11:1-44). At first,Lazarus’ sisters couldn’t understand why Jesus didn’t help, but they soon realized Jesus had everything under control. Our Bottom Line is: God is doing something big to help me trust in Him. God may not fix all our problems, but He’ll give us the strength to get through it.

This Week at CPC Kids

Come to the Family Backyard BBQ!  This Sunday after church at Beth Jacob. Eat, play and be together in the name of the Lord!  We will have water game fun, so dress to get splashed!

Element

This weeks Bible story is about when Jesus heals a blind man (John 9:1–38, NIrV). This miracle causes the Pharisees and other Jews to wonder if Jesus is the Messiah they had been waiting for. And Jesus tells the healed man exactly who He is.

Our Bottom Line is: God is doing something to show me who He is. God is continually doing things around us that help us know Him better.

This Week at CPC Kids

Remember ! Sunday, June 9th is when Kids Advance to their next grade level.

June 9th will also be our first of 3 family backyard BBQ's.  The purpose of these BBQ's is to build friendships by playing, eating and being together.  If you haven't done so already, please RSVP that you will attend on June 9th. Back to the Basics at Base Camp:

In this weeks biblical principle, Luke tells us how Jesus grew up (Luke 2:52). Jesus grew closer to God by growing in wisdom, faith, and friendship. Our Bottom Line is: God is doing something in you to change the world around you. We can’t change the world until we allow God to change us on the inside and make us more like Jesus.

Element: Summer Base Camp

Along with enjoying the lazy days of summer and the 3 Family Backyard BBQ's, kids in Element wil enjoy the summer outdoors in the Backyard of Beth Jacob!  

 

 

Looking at the life and teaching of Jesus, we’re reminded how important it is to go back to the basics. Luke gives us some insight into how Jesus grew up. Luke 2:52 notes that Jesus grew in wisdom and in favor with God and others. Throughout our lives, we should also circle back to these ideas as we seek to live like Jesus.

These are the basics we want every child to know when leaving the Element:

Wisdom—I need to make the wise choice

Faith—I can trust God no matter what;

Friendship—I should treat others the way want to be treated.

 

Wisdom: Jesus taught that the best way to learn what we should do is by listening to God’s Word. The Bible teaches us the wise choice for many situations.

Faith: Jesus came to earth to physically show us God’s love. We can grow stronger faith in God because we have seen what He did through Jesus.

Friendship: Jesus walked every day with His friends, allowing them to get to know Him, teaching them, and helping their hurts. By following Jesus’ example, we can know how we should treat others.

As parents and church leaders partner together, we will help our kids to internalize the Basic Truths of Luke 2:52, and the monthly Godly virtues.  (or Life Apps as we call them) What a priviledge that we have been assigned to help kids to discover what God is doing in them to change the world around them!

This Week at CPC Kids

June 9th is Kids Classroom Advancment Day. This means if your child is attending Kindergarten in the fall, they be moving to Element the Large Room in the Social Hall. The Small Group Leaders for K/1 are Frey, Lenell and Sam please make it a point to introduce yourself when bringing in your child. Join us this week for our last lesson in our theme of patience.This week's Bible story is of when Hannah wants to become a mother but is waiting for a baby (1 Samuel 1:9–2:1). Even through the sadness of her prayers, God gives her the strength to wait until the time is right.

Our Bottom Line is: When you think you can’t wait, tell God about it. God wants us to talk to Him when we’re facing a difficult time.

This month the kids will learn we all have helping hands. God made our hands to help others! Kids spend a lot of time surrounded by people who help them; their parents, their older siblings, their teachers. And, they love to learn all about community helpers like policemen, firemen and construction workers. This month, we are sharing four stories from the Bible where someone used their hands to help others. 

The Early Church Helped Each Other • Acts 2:42-47

In this weeks Bible story the early church met together to pray, eat, worship and help each other in any way they could. This week the kids will learn: We can help each other.

Element - New Month New Life App!

This weeek (5/5) we are starting our new monthly life app Patience! We'll learn that Patience is waiting until later for what you want now. Waiting isn’t always easy. When having patience seems too difficult, the Lord will give us strength to wait. At its core, patience is fueled by faith. We trust that what we’re waiting for is best for us.

The monthly memory verse is: “Wait for the Lord. Be strong and don’t lose hope. Wait for the Lord.” Psalm 27:14, NIrV 

This weeks Bible story is about when Esau comes in from hunting and is very hungry (Genesis 25:24-34). Because he can’t wait, Esau ends up trading his entire inheritance for a full stomach.

Our Bottom Line is: When you think you can’t wait, think twice. Don’t give up what’s best for something immediate.

This Sunday is the CORE meeting for all volunteers and people interested in volunteering, join us at the Foster City campus as all 3 campuses join together for a time of worship, learning and fellowship.

This Weeks Bible Story: Peter Put in Jail • ACTS 12:1-7

Peter is put in jail for telling others about Jesus. God helps Peter by miraculously setting Him free. This week the kids will learn: God helps me tell others about Jesus.

Element (K-4th grade):

This weeks bible story steams from the biblical principle from 1 Thessalonians 5:11a. Paul wrote these words to instruct his friends in Thessalonica to give each other hope, even though they faced persecution for their belief in Jesus.

 Our Bottom Line is: Friends encourage one another. It’s important for friends to encourage each other with positive words; to cheer each other on when we’re tired or hurt. 

This month we are encouraging Element Kids to bring a friend to church and  learn what God wants us to know about friendship!  Smiley face balloons are given away to kids who bring friends!

New Month - New Life App!

At Jesus’ final meal, He spoke with His disciples about what it meant to have a lasting friendship with Him. He said, “Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends.” (John 15:13, NIV)

Days later, Jesus allowed Himself to be crucified on a cross to take the punishment for our sins, setting the example for ultimate friendship. But Jesus demonstrated friendship throughout His life. He walked alongside His friends. He helped their hurts. He never shied away from discussing important topics. He surprised them with acts of service.

Friendship is spending time with someone you trust and enjoy. Just as Jesus spent time with His friends so they could get to know Him better, we can build trust and have fun with our friends as we spend time with them.

But we often take friendship for granted. We have friend requests on Facebook and conversations through email that make us feel hyper-connected with anyone on the other side of the Internet connection. However, real friends are Stuck Like Glue and won’t let go when times get tough.

The monthly memory verse is: “A friend loves at all times. He is there to help when trouble comes.” (Proverbs 17:17 NIrV). Everyone needs encouragement, especially in tough times. A friend will be ready with helpful words and simple actions to strengthen his friends.

In this week’s Bible story, Paul writes to the believers in Rome teaching them about accepting one another (Romans 14:13; 15:7; Acts 9). Our Bottom Line is: Friends accept one another. Even if someone has different interests than us, has a different background, or makes a bad choice, we can still accept and help them.

This month as we learn about the Life App  "Friendship" we will encourage and celebrate kids bringing their friends to church with a high five and a gift certificate to Baskin Robbins!

 

Early Childhood (2's through preschool)

Jesus is alive. Wow! That news really shook up the world. It changed everything. In fact, you could call it “The Great Shakeup.”

Our Bottom Line this month is, “Jesus wants me to tell others about Him.” We’re starting the month sharing the Great Commission with our 2's and preschoolers. We want them to get excited about telling others about Jesus and how much He loves them. We’re encouraging children to, “Go tell everyone, everywhere about Jesus.”

Then, they will learn about men who did exactly what God asked of them. They went out and really shook things up. Our 2's and preschool friends will learn about Peter who shared about Jesus even when he was in jail. They’ll hear the story of Saul and how his life was changed and he became Paul. Finally, they’ll hear the story of Paul and Silas and how God really shook things up when they were in jail. All month long, children will discover how they, too, can shake things up by telling others about Jesus.
